what is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic and gentle manual therapy that aims to restore health to the body. It looks to progressively unload and address compensation patterns and asymmetries in the body in order to open pathways for nerve, blood, and lymphatics to travel to their intended destination, unobstructed, resulting in overall health and well-being.

Osteopathy stands out for its holistic approach to healthcare, recognizing the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit in achieving optimal health and well-being. It recognizes that the body is a dynamic unit of function, meaning that it is always changing and adapting in relation to what is going on with the entire system at any given time. It understands that the structure of the body is deeply related to its function, or how each part is supposed to work and move, both individually and together. It also firmly believes that the body is capable of self-regulation and the ability to heal. Treatment then, is a collection of all of the above beliefs and is given with this in mind.

What to expect from treatment

  • Holistic

The body is a living system that has many different parts that communicate and work together to provide the best it can for you and your health. We recognize all these different parts, both anatomy and physiology, have specialized roles they were meant to do and strive to create an environment that they can function well and communicate freely.

  • Individualized

Every treatment is different. We will work collaboratively with you, taking the time to understand your unique needs, concerns, and goals. Through active listening and partnership, we look to empower you to take an active role in your own health and healing journey, providing education and care along the way.

  • Non-Invasive

We use a gentle, hands-on approach that aims to restore balance, mobility, and function to the body. These techniques include osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), which involves gentle manipulation of ligaments, muscles, joints, fasciae and soft tissues. OMT is performed with precision and sensitivity, targeting areas of restriction or dysfunction to promote optimal movement and alignment.

  • Comprehensive

Our assessment involves a thorough evaluation of your health history, lifestyle, environment, and current health status. This comprehensive approach enables us to identify underlying imbalances or dysfunctions contributing to your symptoms or concerns. Treatments are tailored to address these root causes, rather than merely addressisg just these symptoms. By treating the whole person, we seek to promote lasting improvements in overall health and vitality.
